Mahindra & Mahindra ( M&M ) on 29th Sep'11 launched its global sports utility vehicle, XUV500, at an introductory price between Rs 10.8 lakh to Rs 12.88 lakh (ex-showroom,Delhi).
Positioned between the company's Scorpio and the premium SUV range - Toyota Fortunner, Honda CR-V, Chevrolet Captiva and the likes - the XUV 500 will be availble in both 4x2 and 4x4 variants.
According to company officials, M&M has made arrangements for an initial production capacity of 2,000 units a month. The company has launched the new vehicle in South Africa on 30th Sep'11. And in the next six months the vehicle would be launched in Australia, South and Central America, Western Europe and SAARC countries. At present, the company have two assembly units in operation - one each in Brazil and Egypt. In future, they might set up few units in South Africa, Chile, Paraguay and Honduras depending upon the demand and the potential.
